Emplexity is an indie game studio focused on daily puzzles. The name is a contraction of emergent complexity — the idea that interesting and varied gameplay can emerge from a simple set of rules.

Our games seek to bring a delightful time to your day, by providing a small puzzle that you can solve in a few minutes, but that still has depth and nuance to explore. Easy to learn, hard to master.

All of our games are free to play in the browser, updated daily with a new puzzle. Try them out!

Emplexity first took off with the publication of Squareword, a game that challenges players to fill a 5×5 grid with 5-letter words, featured on PCGamer and more. Since then, we have released five more games, played by thousands of players every single day:

• Clickword — place letters on a board to build crossing words
• Spaceword — fit 21 letters into a crossword using as little space as possible
• Videopuzzle — unscramble the video to solve the puzzle
• Explainle — explain a word to an AI as clearly as possible, five attempts
• Changeword — change one letter at a time to reach the target word
